Debra Young is an occupational therapist specializing in the inclusive design of places, products and services. Debra's diverse skill set includes consulting on design projects within health/healthcare, public health, education, employment, housing, community, mobility/transportation, and product design industries. With a constant eye on how places, products and services impact health and participation, Debra brings a complementary lens to participatory design projects.
Debra has an expansive compilation of publications and presentations on topics related to inclusive design and the impact of the design of environments and products on health and participation in everyday tasks.
Debra also lives inclusive design, having designed her own home to not only meet the needs of her husband, who has C5-C6 incomplete quadriplegia, but to also provide a layer of design flexibility, safety and convenience for herself. It is this personal experience that makes Debra never be without a design justice lens.
